STELLA
"What do you mean Pandora's having a baby?!" I screamed, grouchy from being woken up at midnight. "Well she is and you're going to miss it!" Mattala screamed back, his words catching in the wind as he ran out into the pasture. Well... I guess you really couldn't call it a pasture, as it had no fence. Pandora was one of our many horses. We didn't breed her that year and how she became pregnant is still a mystery.Grabbing my cloak, I chased him out to my favorite tree, which she was lying under. There were even more stars then usual without the pale light of the moon to drown them outDrenched in sweat and wild-eyed, the exausted mare looked at me. Mattala knelt by her, waiting for the new foal to come sliding out. Mattala isn't my brother, but he lives with us. His mom was my mom's best friend until she died, when Mattala was only an infant. I don't know where his dad is, I just know that he's lived with us as long as I can remember. He's my age, only a few months older. I was inturrupted out of my thougts when i tiny nose appeared under Pandora's tail. Everything after that happened to fast to clearly recall. A blur of black and white, a small whinny, and then, there on the ground behind Pandora, was the most beautiful filly I had ever (or will ever) see. Every marking of her mom, but alot of her own. Jet black spots against a pure, almost glowing, white background with a big white star in the middle of her back. The way she looked at me, that certain spark in her eye, she was special, I could tell.

MATTALA
I knew Stella loved horses, but the way she looked at that new filly almost scared me. I knew at once that the new baby meant trouble. Somehow, someway, Stella would put it's safety before her own, she'd done it before. "Well" I said, breaking the silence, "what should we name her?". Stella replied with one word, "Stargazer". "Stargazer?!" I asked, "Why would anybody name a horse THAT?!". "Because its a moonless night and she has a big star on her back duh!" she replied, pushing me down playfully. Pandora did not approve of our antics at all, which she made quiteclear by putting her ears back at us in the horsey glare of hers. Five minutes after her birth "Stargazer" or whatever, was trying to walk. Now most foals don't even bother until about half and hour later, and i'll admit that i'v heard of twenty, but five just flat out amazed me. Oh trouble... I knew she would be trouble.

STELLA
After ten minutes Stargazer had most if her gross motor skills down perfectly. She was nursing, and poor Pandora was more then ready for a rest. The very moment that foal got her fill, Pandora layed back down and slept. This did not please the strong headed little filly at all. Even after a long night of being born she had enough energy to rear up on her little tea-cup hooves and squeal her protest. Pandora didn't even open an eye. She had had babies before and was used to annoying little brats. When Stargazer realized she wasn't going to rouse her mama she lay down next to her, submitting to sleep as if it were an enemy she'd given up on fighting. "So I'm guessing you're going to want to sleep out here tonight?" said Mattala, saying it as more of a statement then a question. I just grinned.

STARGAZER
My mama is lazy. She won't take me to explore my new home. There are two creatures that sit and watch me. They don't look like me and my mama, but they seem nice. I don't understand their words, but they seem fond of eachother, like two foals born into the same heard. Maybe I will be part of their herd.

MATTALA
I'm sure Stella was in heaven laying under the night sky, listening to her newest friend breath. All I could think about was who i really was, where i got my knack for telling stories, or my green eyes, from my mom or dad?. "Hey Mattala?" Stella asked, "What were you doing out here when you found Pandora anyways?". I didn't know what to say, she couldn't know the truth, she just couldn't. "I just couldn't sleep so i came out to sit by the river" I lied. She turned and smiled at me, that understanding smile I know so well. "I know how that is" she replied, looking back up at the sky. "How could I have just lied to the only sister I'v ever known?" I wondered, ashamed of myself. I looked back over at her. She was asleep, her blonde hair spread in every which way. "Goodnight Stella" I whispered, turning onto my side and drifting off to sleep myself.

STARGAZER
When I woke up the two funny looking creatures were still asleep and my mama was grazing. Determined to find out my place with these these two, I stuck my nose into the light-maned one's face. She opened her eyes, startling me. She slowly got up, as if she was hurt, and made soft cewing noises at me. I don't know what they meant but they sounded friendly enough. She edged towards me slowly, as if I was afraid of her. She put that silly apendage at the end of her front leg on my neck and moved it up and down. Somehow it felt good! "So this is my new herd?" I wondered, "It looks like I'm in for a good life".

STELLA
To my surprise, I woke up with Stargazer in my face. She let me touch her, even though she looked at me as if i were an idiot. Letting Mattala sleep, I went in to inform my parents of the news. They were both thrilled, especially my dad. Pandora has always been his favorite mare. They both rushed outside, nearly stepping on Mattala to get to the new baby. Lets just say Pandora wasn't pleased with all the company. Pinning her ears against her head and standing in front of her baby, she glared. That didn't faze Stargazer one bit. She stepped right out from behind the mare and walked up to us, pushing her nose into my dad's palm. "I knew this foal was special" I thought. "Isn't she beautiful dad?" I asked, practically shaking from exitment. Mattala woke up, rubbing his eyes and looking from Pandora to my dad to the baby.

MATTALA

"I'M GOING TO RUN AWAY TO NARNIA!!!!!" those words would plauge me for the rest of my life. i didn't really mean

it..... i didn't really want to leave home, leave my family and friends, to go live a land that didnt' even exist. i

loved the books, i loved the idea of a magical land of unicorns and centuars and talking animals, but its not like

like i REALLY wanted to live there. unfortunatly dude always took me seriously. ok i know it sounds like i'v read a

few to many farytails, but let me explain. dude was my horse, my best friend, and, after he died, my guardian angel. i

honestly believe dude was and is my guardian angel. like the time i almost got kicked in the head by a horse but

something pushed me down just before, but i'm getting off subject. i had a fight with my parents when i was about

thirteen. i screamed the words i would grow to regret (see first line of this story) and ran outside into the starless

night. while lieing, crying on the ground, i felt a familiar presence, a presence i had not felt in a very long time.

i turned around and faced what was to become an unforgetable adventure. there standing in front of me was dude, as

real as you or me. "no it can't be you" i said out loud. "its just and apparation". he just stared at me with those

eyes that always seemed to pierce into the inner sanctum of my soul. as i reached out to touch touch him, we both

disapeared.

CHAPTER TWO

"where am i?" did i say that? or think it? there was nothing...just...nothing. it was black and dark and cold. "dream

megan" that didnt' feel like a thought or a spoken word. it was more like....like.... like a knowing. whatever it was i

listened. i just wanted out of that horrible oblivion. so i closed my eyes and dreamed, dreamed of my own world, the

one i'd been pretty much living in as long as i could remember. when i opened my eyes, it was there...dude was there.

standing beside me like he always had. it was beautiful. no it was behond beautiful. the sky was starry as if it was

night but it as light as day. you could see the always full moon on the horizon alongside a large planet that resembled

saturn. there was green, lush fields of grass and in them was every animal, every creature i had

every dreamed up. " we're in equestria aren't we?" i asked. i wasn't sure who was going to answer but it turned out to

be dude. "thats right" he said. "welcome home". " wow theres alot of stars" i said. " each is a loved one. another

is added every time you meet a new one" dude answered. "wait a minute i'm talking to a horse" i said. " i must be

dreaming". " yeah your dreaming but your not asleep and this is a real place....dreams are a real place" said the big

paint horse. suddenly the ground started to shake and over a distant hill i saw hundreds of objects moving toward us.

"what the heck is all that?" i asked. " its all the inhabitants of equestria coming to meet their maker" dude answered.

suddenly i was surrounded by countless animals in all shapes and sizes and managed to recognize every on of them. there

was jewl the unicorn, and shadow the big black horse, cherub the pegasus, all my friends that had been companions when

humans left me alone. the strange thing was...... all of them had names, but i only named a few of my creations. as it

turns out, dude named those without. "dude, are you like king here or something?" i ventured to ask. "no, we don't

have, or want, a king," he said. "i am however, greatly respected by all the others because i was once mortal and very

close to you". "where are my magical beings?" i wondered. apparently dude could also read my mind because all of a

sudden we were no longer in the lush field. when my eyes ajusted to my new surroundings i knew instantly we were on the

southern border of equestria, where fire,

air, earth, water, and light colided and created the perfect enviroment for all the creatures that had mastered and

controled these elements. zara the unicorn, master of fire, which she could shoot from her horn. ubay the pegasus,

master of air which he could control with his wings. bree the mustang, master of earth which shook when he ran, katara

the pheophin ( a sort of horse/dolphin thing. it has a horse head, horse front legs, and the body of a mermaid), master

of water which moved with a stroke of her mighty tail. finally, dude, master of light, pure, good and kind. zara had a

bit of a temper but was genuinly good hearted. ubay was gentle and sweet but the last thing you wanted to do was get

him ticked off. bree was strong, loyal and normally pretty easy going. katara was graceful, beautiful and deep. the

southern border of equestria was divided into five areas but you couldn't really tell because each ran into the

next.katara lived in the ocean, and played in the waves. near the shore there was a volcano, the home of zara where she

could spend all day perfecting her fire bending skills. surrounding the volcano was a mountain range which was brees

inner sanctum. ubay just floated around on a cloud all day watching the world below and dude, well dude just went

everywhere and helped anyone in need...including me. first stop on my quest to get reacquainted with the the mystical

creatures i had created so long ago was a visit to bree. with dudes help, i managed to navigate my way through the

mountains and finally found him kicking up rocks for fun. the loyal, black-maned buckskin ran up and greeted me with a

joyous whinny and, to my surprise, caused the rock under me to lift and fling me onto his broad back. a few playful

bucks nearly unseated me and bree was sharply reprimanded by dude. while getting a tour of his domain i couldn't help

but notice how well muscled and gorgeous the untamed mustang was. it was no wonder. after 20 minutes of walking up the

steep rocky surface my legs ached terribly. we finally reached the top and i looked down into the pit of a volcanoe.

there was what seemed to be an endless stair case that decended into the flames. my impacients to see zara over took my

fear and i began to decend. after about ten minutes i could see the bottom and make out an outline of the white unicorn

with a mane and tail made of flames. she didn't notice me at first becuase she was too busy shooting flames at a small

target. apparently she heard my foot steps becaseu out fo the blue she shot around and took a good look at me before

aproaching. her hooves kicked up fire with every step and her horn shone in the light of the lava. she walked up very

close and blew hot, steamy air into my face. after about a minute she simply said hello and walked away. "zara" bree

said, "do you have any idea who this is?". her firery mane blazed a little higher. "a little girl who is intruding on

my home?" she replied. "more like the person you should thank for your life" dude said angrily. "megan? wow you've

grown" zara said shyly. her mane went down quiet a bit out of humility. i was going to give her a hug but i didn't feel

like 3rd degree burns so i just patted her on the nose. "come on zara" bree said. "we're going to go see ubay and you

should get out of this pit and join us". she put her ears back slightly at the fact that her volcanoe had just been

called a pit, but agreed to come anyways. after climbing back up those simingly endless stairs i looked up and didn't

see a single cloud for ubay to be resting on. "just sit and wait" and three horse type creatures said at the same time.

after about two hours of just resting on a rock and talking to my "imaginary" friends a single, beautiful silver cloud

floated by and i saw the tip of a wing sticking out. "ubay!" i screamed. a beautiful, delicate nose poked out over the

edge. then two eyes, then a goofy horse smile. he decended on his huge angel-like wings and quietly nickered as he

rubbed his large arabian-like head against my back. he rubbed noses with dude and bree and nodded slightyly to zara.

she did the same. bree, dude, and i exchanged curious looks about the two's curtness towards eachother but didn't say

anything. "well no sence in wasting time" dude blurted. "off to the shore". ubay crouched down on one knee and invited

me to ride on his delicate looking back. all i can say is, if there was a small piece of heaven in equestria, i saw it right then.

i looked down on the others running as fast as their legs could carry them, trying to keep up. i looked back and saw a

phoenix circling the top of zara's home. i looked ahead and saw the ocean, gorgeous, sparkling waves moving in and out.

i noticed we were decending and as i looked down i saw the beach. we landed smoothly and i rolled off of ubay's back and

onto the warm sand. seconds later the others ran up and collapsed, out of breath, all around me. after a while we all

to up and shook the sand off. "come on!" dude shouted exitedly, as he jumped into the water and started to swim. bree

and i followed right after him but the water hating zara and the air loving ubay stayed behind. about 100 yds. out, we

came to a dead stop and just floated. the next thing i knew i was being thrust out of the water on a large wave. the

wave disappeared from under me and i fell but instead of landing with a splash i landed on a rather hard object. dazed,

and slightly confused, i could only assume that we had found katara. the assumtion was confirmed when i felt a soft

nuzzle and opened my eyes to see a beatiful blue/silverish head pressed against my cheek. "KATARA!" i squealed with joy

and hugged her neck. the gentle pheophins eyes shone in the mid-day light (remember there is no sun, the light source is just that, light.)

from behind a felt a shove and was pushed back into the salty water. wiping the moisture from my eyes,

i saw bree grinning, apparently very proud of himself. dude and katara just sat and laughed as i engaged in a splash

war with the buckskin. once we were both thouroughly soaked, katara gave me a ride back to the beach. ubay and zara were

sitting as far way from eachother as possible. zara was turning small areas of sand into glass and ubay was napping. that

actually sounded like a good idea. i crawled under his wing and dude came and layed down on the other side of me.

apparently it was very late at home... wherever home may be.

megmarsh92: after dinner the dancing started

megmarsh92: while everone else was busy finding partners, andrew and jade snuck out, reminding them both so much of the night their lives got so screwed up, the night that dani got her heart broken, and the night the true adventure had begun

Cinniminnie: they walked along the trail, until jade pulled andrew a different way. then they walked in the forest, and came upon a huge tree. andrew leaned in to kiss jade, but at that moment she pulled out a knife and held it to his throat. she said....

Cinniminnie: (your turn)

megmarsh92: OO

megmarsh92: "the mission is falling apart, i need you to find a way to stall the wedding because Lord knows you parents won't listen to me"

Cinniminnie: "what? what are you talking about"

"dont ask any questions, just do it. or i could do it for you, i highly doubt we would have a wedding when you are on your death  bed"

Cinniminnie: ghhhamegmarsh92: "alright fine" he agreed, and then, like shadow, jade was gone. Cinniminnie: jade ran up to her room in the castle, grabbed her poodle and headed for the stables, dress and all. she put the poodle it the saddlebags and kcked her horse into a gallop. where was she heading? to where she really belonged, in the heat of the battle. megmarsh92: arriving at the camp a few hours later she found everyone asleep, bags packed, apparently planning on abandoning everything the next morning. "what have i done?" she wondered with regret.  _K_ she ran to jonathan’s tent to let him know she was

The book "Night" by Elie Wiesel, tells the story of how he survived the brutal Nazi concentration camp. Growing up with his mother, father, and three sisters, he was very interested in studying the cabbala as much as possible. Moshe the Beadle was his mentor, often spending many hours talking with him. When Moshe the Beadle gets taken away with all the other foreign Jews, Eliezer was crushed, but after a while life returned to normal. At least until the Beadle returns, speaking of the unimaginable horrors committed against him and the others by the Nazis. No one believes him, until they face the same trial. And so begins the nightmare that was the death camp.

You ask me how the book is relevant to today. I don't even know where to begin. For one thing, you always hear
"We are more civilized now, we wouldn't allow this to happen again". The thing people don't seem to see is that it happens every day. Just take a look at the news, "and today so-and-so is going on trial for viciously beating his wife and three young children" or "A drive-by-shooting took place at the local Sonic today. From what authorities can tell, it was a gang from downtown attacking a rival gang. Three severely injured, one dead". Now can anyone tell me that's civility? If it is then what's crime? What's hatred? That's what it all comes down to. One word: hatred. People against people, families against families, all for the sake of destroying those different than you. We watch violence, suicide, and murder every day, just as Eliezer watched those children burn in the furnace, or men hang from those ropes.

Another similarity between Night and today's world is how in the face of cold, starvation, and death itself,
Eliezer puts his father first, refusing to take the dying man's rations. Even in the cruelest of circumstances, most sane people will put aside their own needs for those that they love. Unfortunately this can go either way. While Eliezer fought to stay with his father, another boy left his behind. On the train to the new camp, people fought for a piece of bread, shoving the elderly aside. Its all about getting yours before the other guy gets his, although in that particular situation you could hardly blame any of those food deprived men. That doesn't excuse most of us though. I can understand desperation in a third world country, I've seen it, but what's our excuse? We all know what happens the day after Thanksgiving every year. People line up early to get in the stores and nab the best sales, and once the doors open it doesn't matter who you step on to get in. You expect to see it in the paper, at least one person always gets trampled or suffocates. Heres another word for you that goes along with hatred: selfishness. The Nazis were selfish and cold-hearted, taking everything from the Jews, even the gold crowns from their teeth. They not only killed a good number of them, but they killed the survivors too; killed their spirits, killed their hope, killed their will to live. We tend to do that to each other. High school is all about cliques and being the coolest, putting down the "nerds". The real world isn't much better. No matter what anyone says, racism is still a big issue. The sign of real weakness is putting down others to feel strong. Only cowards would hold guns to tired, starved, hypothermic people like the Nazis did.
And so, as Elie Wiesel survived the concentration camp without committing treachery, we must learn to survive in
today's world without behaving like the Nazis. If we could learn to live with each other, truly LIVE with each other, then maybe I would have been able to say that today's world didn't resemble that of the book much at all. Unfortunately that's not the case. Because of this fact, let me end with a simple message: Strive for peace with your neighbors, treat them as you would treat your brother. Lets not make our beautiful country a permanant death camp. Live and let live, and peace be with you.

-The love of horses knows not it's own dept till the hour of seperation.
-A good rider can hear his horse speak to him. A great rider can hear his horse whisper. But a bad rider won't hear his horse even if it screams at him!
-I live in a house but my home is in the stable.
-Horses give us the wings we lack.
-Yes! I hugged my horse today!
-Give a horse what he needs and he will give you his heart in return.
-He knows when you are happy, he knows when you are proud, he also knows when you have a carrot.
-You cannot train a horse with shouts and expect it to obey a whisper.
-Whoever said that money can't buy happiness didn't know where to but a horse.
-Before I loved horses I had nothing to live for. Now I love horses and can't stop seeing things to live for.
-There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.
-You can have my boyfriend, but stay away from my horse!
-Drumming hooves, quiet ground...natures song of joy.
-Even the greenest horse has something to teach the wisest rider. (means- even a beggining horse can teach a great rider something)
-Never ride fatser than your guardian angel can fly!
-If you don't know where you are going, the horse will decide for you.
-Bread may feed my body, but my horse feeds my soul.
-A horse is like a bestfriend. Their always there to muzzle you and make your life a better place.
-Nothing moves me more than when on the way to fetching my mare in the morning than the sound of her neighing to me as I open the gate.
-Care, and not fine stables, makes a good horse.
-All horses deserve, at least once in their lives, to be loved by a little girl.
-The eternal and wonderful sight of horses at liberty is magical to watch.
-Closeness, Friendship, Affection; keeping your horse means all these things.
-How do you catch a loose horse? Make a noise like a carrot.
-You can lead a horse to water but you can't stop him from rolling in it.
-Riding isn't the matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
-If there is a more beautiful creature on earth not one person has seen or heard of it.
-When you can recite the name of every horse at the riding school where you ride in alphabetical order-backwards and forwards, then you know that you are truly horse-mad!
-A bad day riding is better than a good day fishing.
-There comes a point in every riders life when he wonders if it's all worth it. Then one look at his horse and he realizes-it is.
-Just knowing we have both learnt somehting when I have finished riding is enough for me!
-How to ride a horse: Step One: Mount the horse. Step two: stay mounted...
-Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see a bird that has the blues? One reason why birds and horse are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses.
-There is no secret so close as that between a rider and his horse.
-Nothing on four legs is quicker than a horse heading back to the barn.
-If I had a dime for every time I thought of a horse's beauty I'd have enough to buy one.
If god had intended man to walk, he would have given him four legs. Instead, he gave him two-one to put on either side of a horse.
-A good man will take care of his horses and dogs, not only when they are young, but also when they are old and past service.
-No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle.
-My new horse was sold to me as a gentleman to ride. He is, when we have to go over a fence he insists on ladies first!!!
-At least when my horse looses a show I don't have to buy four new ones.
-Horses love carrots. Does that make them really big rabbits?
-When riding a horse we leave our ear, troubles, and sadness behind on the ground.
-When your horse follows you without being asked, when he rubs his head on yours, and when you look at him and feel a tingle down your spine you know you are loved...do you love him back?
